Strength training workouts requested, none generated

I requested / allowed strength training workouts to be generated in my Plan Prompt, after the introduction of the ‘create B events after A event’ feature was rolled out I generated a new plan. No strength training workouts were created.

Next few weeks of my new plan:

Strength workouts are allowed on any day of the week.

Strength workouts are allowed to generate up to two hours per week.

Strength workouts were explicitly requested in plan prompt

Of course I can fix it with the ‘chat’ after the fact, but if I explicitly requested it..

I’m seeing highly increased backend agent failures related to strength workout creation since yesterday even though the last changes to this module are over a week old and things worked well up until yesterday.

Investigating right now what’s happening

Ok it should be fixed now.

Long story short: Gemini 3 seems to have gotten much more verbose in its reasoning and output (convenient for them charging per token lol) over the past few days (performance started to degrade on Feb 18th) and the configuration of the backend agent wasn’t doing well with that anymore. That seems to have been the main reason for the problems.

I’ve taken the opportunity to improve and optimize a few other things in the backend agent too.

@R_Handle I added your latest plan prompt + training plan request configuration to the evals and it seems to be handling your prompt well now. Let me know if there’s any issue still though please.

Edit 9:15 PM Feb 20th: It actually wasn’t Gemini changes but a bug I had introduced a couple of days ago that is fixed now. Should be working well again from now on

Strength workouts are being created again. I slightly tweaked my plan prompt and included the instructions:

”Schedule two ‘full body’ or ‘areas of known weakness, eg: core/glute/hip’ strength training days per week.

I will be performing approximately 10 minutes of isometric strength exercises every day to address patella tendonitis. Create this workout for me on my calendar.”

It did a bit better, the full-body strength workouts were created, but it did not create strength workouts for the isometrics daily.

I seem to be hitting some limitation, either of strength volume, interpretation of my request, etc.

The workouts themselves, sometimes they’re a little weird. The Feb. 25th one in particular caught my eye:

15s recovery after a 45s wall squat seems unreasonably short.

Instead of asking for a strength workout to be created, I’ll just regenerate the plan with the request for daily isometrics be added to the calendar removed and do it myself.

I think it’s trying to accommodate your daily 10 min strength exercises

That was my hypothesis. I’ll just remember to do them.
