Incorrect reading of the race altimetry

It’s always happening. My runs are always on the same loop, about a kilometer long. When I ask for feedback via chat, and after checking it myself, I realize that the altimetry of my training is completely off.
To give you an idea, today AIE recorded a positive elevation gain of 269 meters for my run (it’s basically as if I’d run uphill).
Garmin, on the other hand, correctly recorded a total ascent of just over 19 meters.
Below are the screenshots of the activity.

Why is this anomaly? Every time I have to specify in the chat that I’m running on flat ground and not uphill; available for any test

sorry for the issue. could you please send the fit file to info@aiendurance.com ? I’ll have a look what’s causing this discrepancy. Also what’s the model of the Garmin watch?

Done; FR245

Thanks got it

I’ve had a look: it looks like your watch elevation barometer is broken. Garmin actually writes into the fit file themselves that there is an elevation gain of 269 m which according to your report is probably an almost 10x overestimation. In this case it results in a 4% overestimation of GAP.

I assume Garmin uses maps to correct the elevation for what you see in Garmin Connect but we currently don’t have the capacity to do this.

Since this is a hardware issue, I would suggest you contact Garmin about the issue and hopefully they can help

I’d simply try to calibrate the altimeter.

Unfortunately Forerunner 245 hasn’t this option
