You can now set the ramp rate of your plan. Default is 10%. It sets how the plan ramps up total time per sport per week from your detected volume over the last 6 weeks to your requested volume:
Hi Markus,
How is volume defined, because duration or distance doesn’t tell enough if you don’t take into account what it consists of.
Thanks!
Hi Jordi,
volume = duration but since the plan is mainly Endurance and intervals are also limited in their growth in practice it is very close to defining volume via ESS
- I like how it can go down to a low number like 3% so if I want to use it I can protect against my desire to do more because I feel okay.
- I’ve heard lots of opinions on what the ramp rate should be. 10% on the longest run, weekly volume doesn’t matter. 10% on quality workouts, ignore endurance. 10% on total volume. 10% on longest run and 10% on quality, but calculated independently.
- I’m less interested in being able to tune each of those independently, and more interested a blog post where the ‘optimal’ mix of those parameters is determined and then that optimal mix used in the slider here. (I do love an LLM generated regression model)
- How would one leave it at the ‘the ml decides’? Was it implicitly at 10% internally and is now tunable, or has something that was being calculated automatically now been replaced with a static value?
It’s rather simple here: ramp rate relates to overall duration per sport which as I wrote above is very similar to restricting ESS growth. We have other ramp rate like parameters like long run/ride duration increase per week which are currently not adjustable by user. I think this one has the most effect and is most often the one you would want to change.
Before it was always 10%
