Your plan says 10 min warm-up, then 4 × 4 min hard with 3 easy between. Your music has no idea. That gap annoyed me for years, so I built Beatpace, and the AI Endurance integration is now live (Markus suggested I post here).
Connect it in Beatpace settings and your upcoming sessions are built as continuous mixes. Each step becomes a block at its own exact BPM matched to your cadence. A 4-minute step is a 4-minute block, not whatever song length happened to be close enough. Tempo shifts land on the block boundaries. When the plan adapts and a session changes, a new mix is built for it. Plays natively on music-capable Garmins with no phone, or in any browser.
The connection is read-only. Nothing written back, nothing marked complete. Your plan stays in AI Endurance and keeps adapting exactly as before.
I want to be straight about two things. The music is original and made for this: built to hold exact tempos, which is the whole point, but I’m not going to pretend it competes with your favorite song dropping mid-interval. It’s closer to the middle ground between a metronome and music, a tool. And on price: connecting is free and builds your first planned session so you can hear your own workout. Building every session is paid.
Where I want your eyes: whether the mix matches what the plan meant. The banding reads several things from each session and it will not always get yours right. If a workout comes out feeling off, too easy in the music where the plan meant hard, or the reverse, tell me which one and I’ll dig into it. I read everything.
@David_Erenger What an original and fun tool! I wasn’t familiar with Beatpace and will try it out!
There is only one thing I doubt about: how much it will be of value for me to subscribe. Nowadays I have so many ongoing subscriptions to services already. But maybe, going to use it this week!
Fair, I feel the same about subscriptions. Connecting is free and builds your first planned session, so you can hear one of your own workouts as a mix and judge from there. The free account isn’t a countdown either, library mixes stay free for good, plan sync is the paid part. Curious what you think after this week.
If it helps I think what I’d pay is $50 USD/year, though whether that would cover your costs I do not know but personally based on how much I think I’d use it plus my perceived value out of it, I think that’s where I’d land.
I used it today on my threshold run, and I really enjoyed it. I can imagine that for some people it helps to increase their cadance as well.
One thing I struggled with was starting it. When I started my workout, my Garmin was “talking”, and during that time, I wasn’t able to start the music, so it ended up being 5-10 seconds behind.
Next time, first start the music and then hit start for the workout I guess
Suggestion: it would be nice if the Garmin connect app is able to clean up older/listened mixes.
That voice talking that blocked the music, was that the initial instructions for a structured workout?
I will look into how it behaves and at least produce some kind of best practices for scenarios like this. Not sure we can do much about it, Beatpace being a music provider app can’t really interact with anything else on the Garmin (yet).
For what it’s worth, I run with all Garmin voice cues off, I can’t stand “speed up” / “slow down”. I’ve gone a step further and stopped starting structured workouts altogether: just a regular run, with the Beatpace coach calling the blocks instead.
Regarding the old mixes, those coming from AI Endurance are removed when they go off date on the next sync. Those saved in your library stay until you remove them, but maybe I’ll add an auto-cleanup option there later!
